Serving as Senior Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications for Hallmark Cards Inc., would be enough to keep STEVE DOYAL busy. Doyal leads the company's communications, public relations, government affairs, and community involvement programs; and he is also responsible for the Hallmark Visitors Center, Kaleidoscope - a children's creative art experience at Crown Center - and the philanthropic activities of the Hallmark Corporate Foundation. But Doyal doesn't stop there. He is on the board of directors of Crown Media Holdings, Inc., a public company that operates the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel, and currently serves as president of the Greeting Card Association. But this highly respected Kansas City business man also finds time to lend his notable leadership skills to multiple organizations and boards who profit greatly from his involvement including, EPIC Innovative Events.
Doyal began his service to Starlight Theatre Association of Kansas City, EPIC's parent company, in 2002. He and his wife Cathy chaired the Starlight Theatre Gala in 2003 and Doyal served as the Chairman of the Starlight Board in 2008 and 2009. He joined the EPIC Board in 2009 and currently serves as its Chairman. But Starlight and EPIC are not the only two organizations to benefit from his contributions over the years. Doyal is a current member of the Boards of Trustees, Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan., and University of Missouri - Kansas City. He serves on the executive committees of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and the Kansas City Area Development Council. And he has served on the boards of the Advertising Club of Kansas City Educational Foundation, the Mid-Continent Council of the Girl Scouts, the Friends of the Conservatory of Music at UMKC and the Helping Hand of Goodwill Industries.
Steve Doyal's recognition extends far and wide. He was presented the Kansas City Public Relations Professional of the Year Award, the Kansas City Advertising Executive of the Year and is a recipient of the Arthur E. Lowell Award for Excellence in Organizational Communication. Doyal also received the American Advertising Federation Silver Medal, and in 2013 received the Kansas City Spirit Award from the Gillis Center.
EPIC's President, Donna Thomason states, "Steve makes a positive impact wherever he serves. Not only does he possess a profound business savvy, but his keen process of strategic thinking, coupled with an immense heart, makes his contributions enormously valuable. We are fortunate he leads our Board of Directors."
